Although not new in concept, fuel cells have received considerable attention for their potential as a clean and reliable source of energy for low (>5kw) and medium (>100kw) power customers. Sanmina-SCI has been working with major fuel cell start-ups for more than two years, in turn gaining valuable first-hand knowledge of fuel cell system requirements. Recently, we successfully met a customer’s cost and quality needs for their end users in North America by using our manufacturing facilities in China to deliver lower component and sub-system cost in a highly competitive market.

In the clean technology sector, we’ve been partnering with LED and smart grid companies, helping ensure their products meet cost, manufacturing and quality requirements. Our strengths in electro-mechanical design and fabrication are applied in order to optimize "balance of system" (BOS) component processes and costs—all key factors for our customers’ quest to achieve grid parity.
